SkinKandy I Store Design

The Challenge

SkinKandy, the world’s largest body piercing retailer, set out to refresh their retail experience while preserving their bold and distinctive brand identity. The vision was to create an engaging and customer focused environment that could be rolled out efficiently and cost effectively across their rapidly expanding network.

Our Approach

We developed a scalable design system that elevates the in store customer experience and strengthens brand presence while making rollout simple and cost effective. Our approach considered not only how the stores look but how customers feel as they move through the space. By mapping each stage of the customer journey, we designed a layout and signage opportunities that are easy to navigate and create moments of impact and encourages exploration.

This included concept design and a detailed kit of parts, enabling each store to be delivered consistently and at speed. The first store in Cairns showcases the evolved design. Hero displays, bold colour blocking, key signage and strategic fixture placement create clear zones for each step of the experience, guiding the customer journey. The piercing bar sits at the heart of the store, fashion earring displays line the perimeter, and the piercing rooms and waiting areas flow naturally toward the back. Signage throughout educates customers, communicates expertise and builds trust, by positioning SkinKandy as experts. This enhances the overall customer experience, improves operational flow and avoids bottlenecks.

With more than 89 stores and expanding fast across Australia and New Zealand, this new concept sets the foundation for rapid, strategic and cost efficient expansion. It proves that great retail design can deliver impact at scale and support strong commercial growth.
