The Challenge
SkinKandy, the world’s largest body piercing retailer, set out to refresh their retail experience while preserving their bold and distinctive brand identity. The goal was to create an environment that felt more engaging, welcoming and customer focused, and could be easily rolled out across their expanding network of stores.
Our Approach
We delivered both concept design and fixture (kit of parts) documentation, ensuring the new look could be seamlessly implemented at scale. The first store, located in Cairns, showcases this evolved design, blending brand strength with an elevated customer journey.
A key focus of the design strategy was how customers move through the space. We used colour, fixtures, colour blocking and visual merchandising strategies such as key hero displays and signage to guide the journey, creating clear zones for each step of the experience. The layout defines the piercing selection area with the piercing bar in the centre/ heart of the store, the fashion earring display to perimeter walls and the piercing room and waiting area towards the back, helping customers navigate with ease and confidence. Whilst avoiding bottlenecking.
With 89 stores across Australia and New Zealand, this new concept marks an exciting chapter for SkinKandy’s retail presence as their rapidly expand the retail network.

It has been an absolute pleasure to collaborate with Rebecca and her team on our next generation store design.
When choosing a new design agency it was vital for us to work with a company that understood customer behaviours, visual merchandising and retail trends. Rebecca took the brief and developed it further with customer research which added insights that has underpinned our strategic approach to elevate our customer engagement.
Rebecca and her team’s retail knowledge and design expertise has brought to life our vision to reinforce our new brand identity and USP’s.
We are extremely grateful for our fresh, new modern take on the Hairhouse brand and we can’t wait to see the new design and retail initiatives roll out into the marketplace.
