Leading the Way in Sustainable Design: Green Star Accreditation Achieved

We’re proud to announce that our Senior Interior Designer, Kristine Vibar has successfully completed the Green Star Foundations & Interiors Advanced course, conducted by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). This achievement marks a significant step in our ongoing commitment to creating interiors that are not only beautiful but environmentally responsible.

What is Green Star?

Green Star is an internationally recognised sustainability rating system that delivers independent verification of sustainable outcomes throughout the life cycle of the built environment. Established by GBCA, its mission is clear and powerful:
“To lead the sustainable transformation of the built environment.”

Through this framework, Green Star encourages practices that:

  1. Reducing the impact of climate change

  2. Enhancing our health and quality of life

  3. Restoring and protecting our planet’s biodiversity and ecosystems

  4. Driving resilient outcomes for buildings, cutouts and communities

  5. Contributing to market transformation and a sustainable economy

Deepening Our Knowledge: Interiors Advanced Course

While the Foundations course provided an overview of Green Star’s mission and goals, the Interiors Advanced program allowed us to explore the Green Star - Interiors rating tool in depth. This tool is specifically designed for the design and construction of interior fitouts. Which is what we specialise in!

It assesses sustainability through nine key categories:

  1. Management – Implementing best-practice sustainability processes throughout design and construction

  2. Indoor Environment Quality – Prioritising air quality, thermal comfort, and acoustics for occupant wellbeing

  3. Energy – Reducing operational energy use and greenhouse gas emissions

  4. Transport – Encouraging sustainable travel options and reducing car dependence

  5. Water – Lowering potable water use through efficient systems and reuse strategies

  6. Materials – Selecting low-impact materials and minimising construction waste

  7. Land Use & Ecology – Reducing ecological impacts through informed site selection and remediation of toxic substances from building interiors

  8. Emissions – Controlling ‘point source’ pollution sources and minimising harmful emissions

  9. Innovation – Championing new solutions that elevate sustainability in the built environment

What This Means for Our Clients

Achieving the Green Star Associate accreditation means we are equipped with industry-leading knowledge to integrate sustainability at every stage of our interior design process. We are now even better positioned to help our clients meet their environmental goals and design spaces that contribute to the larger vision of a net zero future.

From reducing energy consumption to selecting responsible materials and creating healthier indoor environments, our design philosophy is grounded in the principles that support the Paris Agreement and the global effort to mitigate climate change.

Sustainability is no longer a trend—it’s a necessity. And we’re proud to be part of a growing movement to reshape how our built environment performs for people and the planet.
