Club Interior - Markets Club

The Challenge

To expand the club by uniting three ground floor tenancies and creating a seamless link to the existing level one venue, all while keeping operations running with minimal disruption. The project needed to elevate the customer experience, improve operational flow across bar, lounge, gaming and back of house spaces, and ensure acoustic comfort throughout.

Our Approach

X+O’s 2021 refurbishment of Markets Club lifted the venue into the top list of clubs in NSW, leading Holman Barnes Group to engage us again for this significant extension. We used space planning and customer journey mapping to shape a layout that supported ongoing operations, including the integration of a new lift joining both levels and a striking ground floor sign in counter.

Operational efficiency guided every decision. Clear circulation paths and intuitive staff movement were created through well considered adjacencies between the bar, kitchen and lounge. The main kitchen was retained upstairs, supported by a satellite kitchen on the ground floor.

Acoustic quality was a priority, achieved through sound check plasterboard ceilings, acoustic timber wall panels, integrated acoustic panels within gaming machine screens and custom axminster carpet tiles. Acoustic consultants, along with services consultants, provided detailed recommendations that directly informed the final design to ensure operational efficiency and patron comfort.
