Reception and Yukata

The Challenge

Tokyo Head Spa St Leonards was envisioned as more than a traditional salon, the goal was to create an immersive Japanese-inspired wellness experience centred around ritual, relaxation and sensory escape. Designed as a luxury head spa and wellness destination, the space was created to transport guests away from the pace of everyday life into a calming environment focused on restoration, holistic self-care and elevated customer experience.

Our Approach

As wellness and hospitality interior designers, we focused on creating a highly considered customer journey inspired by traditional Japanese rituals and luxury spa experiences. Upon arrival, guests select a traditional yukata robe before transitioning into a calm pre-treatment lounge where tea is served as part of the wellness ritual.

Layered textures, ambient lighting and natural materials were used throughout the space to create a warm and cocooning atmosphere, while curated product displays were integrated into the treatment rooms to enhance the sensory experience. Following treatment, guests move through to a post-treatment tea lounge and styling bar, creating a seamless end-to-end wellness journey centred around calmness, ritual and elevated customer experience.
